Planning liaison
The Agency has ongoing liaison with DOE Planning Service in relation to the drainage implications arising from the zoning of new land for housing or industrial development. Where necessary it carries out an analysis of the hydraulic capacity of existing watercourses to determine if they can cope with increased run-off from development. The necessary drainage infrastructure works to facilitate development will be provided where they meet financial criteria agreed with the Department of Finance and Personnel. The Agency also provides technical advice to Planning Service on the drainage aspects of Area Plan proposals and individual planning applications.
